When Harold and Dudley Curtis founded their business in 1946, it was originally a taxicab service and pure oil station. In 1952, the two brothers moved their business to its current location in Rushville and revamped their business model to form Curtis Appliances.
Over the years, the business evolved to become the leading furniture store in Rush County, IN. In 1968, Kim Curtis joined the business, working alongside his uncle and father. Harold eventually retired in the year 1979, leaving the business in the capable hands of Dudley and Kim.
In 2002, the store took on members of its' third generation of the Curtis family when Andy Curtis came to work with his father and grandfather. Since Dudley retired in 2007, the store has been run by the father-son team of Kim and Andy.
